EXHIBITION PIER PAOLO CALZOLARI & PIERRE THORETTON
From June 10 to September 30, 2026
Espace Pièce Unique - Jacqueline Morabito
From June 10 to September 30, 2026, Jacqueline Morabito invites you to experience a dialogue between Pier Paolo Calzolari and Pierre Thoretton.
Presented for the first time in France is the artist's book (livre-œuvre) "Cantata Bluia - Libro d'ore", co-signed by Pier Paolo Calzolari, Pierre Thoretton, and Bruno Corà, and handcrafted in 1999 (Collection Emblemata, Editions Essegi). It is presented alongside an original work by Pier Paolo Calzolari, "Untitled, 2021", and a large-format photograph by Pierre Thoretton, "Paysage II", 2002.
Born in Bologna, Italy, in 1943, Pier Paolo Calzolari lives and works in Lisbon. Known for his multidisciplinary practice and his use of everyday organic materials (frost, fire, tobacco leaves…), Calzolari is a major figure of the Arte Poveramovement, whose work is showcased in leading international museums and private collections.
Pierre Thoretton was born in Noyon in 1967; he lives and works in Nice. A film producer and screenwriter, he is also a photographer, painter, and sculptor. His photographic work on the Mediterranean landscape is deeply tied to memory, the traces of time, and modern ecological concerns. His work was notably featured in the group exhibition "Le sentiment de la nature" (The Feeling of Nature) at Villa Paloma, Monaco, in 2026.
In Saint-Paul-de-Vence, through a contemporary gesture, Jacqueline Morabito sublimates the traces of the past. The reinvented heritage setting of her space, PIÈCE UNIQUE, reflects her vision: building the imagination and nourishing emotion through an endless dialogue between architecture, art, and craftsmanship. Pièce Unique is an experimental space that invites an encounter with beauty.
