Description
Titled “The Art of Quotation,” this exhibition, conceived by curator Elsa Vanier, showcases the works of 11 contemporary jewelry designers who drew inspiration for their own creations from the works of renowned artists.
Painting, sculpture, jewelry, and even architecture have served as sources of inspiration for creating jewelry.
Second Exhibition: “A Brief History of Contemporary Jewelry”
The second exhibition features a selection of works from the City’s contemporary jewelry collection and seeks to trace the evolution of the ideas and styles that characterize contemporary jewelry art from the 1960s to the present.
The Museum of Contemporary Jewelry’s collection comprises more than 400 works and, through its richness, allows visitors to appreciate the diversity of techniques, forms, and materials that define contemporary jewelry.
A Brief History of Contemporary Jewelry
Several donations and acquisitions have helped build a rich collection of over 400 works. A significant donation took place in 2025, comprising nearly 109 pieces of jewelry and objects created by designer Joël Faivre-Chalon.
The 29 works on display were selected from this collection. Together, they tell a brief history of contemporary jewelry, tracing the aesthetic, technical, and formal evolutions of this artistic field from the 1960s to 2023.
This exhibition complements the exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the Grimaldi Castle Museum, which traces the history of its collection and runs through January 4, 2027.
