Exposition Bonnard - Monet

Fascinated by Monet’s work, Bonnard moved to Vernonnet in 1910, on the banks of the Seine, a few kilometers from Giverny. A dialogue then developed between the two artists, one built on admiration, encounters, and shared perspectives. The exhibition reveals the affinities that brought them together—light, water, gardens, Japanese prints—but also what set them apart. For while Monet opened up a new path for Bonnard, the latter was determined to break free from it to invent a style of painting all his own. An encounter between two great painters, set against a landscape that becomes a source of inspiration and freedom.
