A former coastal defense tower, the battery combines military heritage with natural marine heritage. A wonderful immersive experience by the sea.
Located on a rocky promontory at the southern tip of Cap d’Antibes, facing Golfe-Juan and Île Sainte Marguerite, the Graillon Tower once served to defend and monitor the coastline. During the Revolutionary period, an initial battery facing the sea was added. In 1862, Engineer Officer Argellier decided to build an unfortified guardhouse and a new tower surrounded by a moat. In 1900, the battery was expanded to include a shelter designed to house a searchlight capable of illuminating the harbor in the event of a naval attack.
The Graillon Battery, nestled in the heart of a 1.5-hectare pine forest, is home to the Posidonia Center, a space dedicated to the sea and the coastline.
