Description
Set off to discover the summit that gave our playroom its name, the Salle Mercière!
From the Front de Neige, head up toward the chapel, then stay on the trail to the right of the Belvédère ski lift. Next, take the trail that leads to the hillside reservoir and follow the path on the left that descends toward a small wooden footbridge.
Cross the footbridge and take the trail on the right to reach the eagle sculpture at the top of the Belvédère ski lift.
From the eagle sculpture, head to the fork marked by marker 91 toward the Terre Rouge lakes.
Cross a scree slope and continue to marker 92, then head southeast toward the Mercière Pass.
From the pass (b95), you’ll enter the Mercantour National Park. Follow the trail on the right along the ridge to reach Tête Mercière at an elevation of 2,491 meters.
Return via the same route.
If you take a slight detour, you’ll find a water source, dry toilets, and a snack bar for hikers.
