Hike Starting Point - Terre Rouge Lakes

From marker 90a, next to the Chalet Marano hotel, head toward the Terre Rouge lakes and take the trail that climbs above the chalet. Turn left to reach marker 91 at the edge of the trail. Turn right, continuing toward the Terre Rouge Lakes. Cross a scree slope, then descend toward the Terre Rouge Valley, passing above a peat bog. As you approach the stream, a trail ascends from the right and joins the GR at marker 91. Turn left to hike up the valley on the right bank; then, the slope levels off and you must cross the stream at a ford. Next, leave the valley to join the trail coming from Col Mercière at marker 92. Continue left toward the Terre Rouge lakes. After a short, winding climb, pass by a first lake, then a second, and finally a third, reaching marker 93. Return via the same route. If you take a slight detour, you’ll find a water source, dry toilets, and a snack bar for hikers.
