Hiking - Circuit Cuson, Chastan

Starting at the northern end of the village (fountain, b.45), climb diagonally on a fine paved path towards the well-kept chestnut grove. At marker 46, climb steeply up to the upper Aranes countryside, now abandoned. At the last barns (b.47), turn right into a forest of Scots pine clinging to the steep, seemingly inaccessible slope of Mont Palastre. This takes you to the lower plateau of Cuson with its ruined barns (b.48), where you'll be glad to stop for a rest. The descent then begins, with the path joining the high Chastan valley in a scarf, before taking a series of switchbacks towards the area of barns of the same name, and then the road to Isola 2000 (b.49). Follow this road for a while before taking the old Chastillon road below (b.50), which leads in a short time to the village along the Guerche torrent. Caution: No drinking water on the circuit.
