Description
Set off for a 3-hour tour of Isola's former main source of income.
From the village square, cross the bridge over the torrent de la Guerche (b.67), climb up between the houses above the Saint Pierre bell tower (b.68) and take the admirable mule track with its polished stones, which climbs in an eastward slope towards the Sas valley.
Leave the path which continues towards the Merlier drop to turn left (b.69) and climb along the valley to reach marker 70; fork left and follow the Rapouaut path to marker 67a.
A long, panoramic traverse, with ancient barns and restanques with large dry-stone walls, leads to the village, which can be seen from an unusual angle.
After a long climb of between 1,100 and 1,200 m, the path suddenly twists and turns towards the countryside and the Puey chestnut grove, before returning to the heart of the village.
