Hiking - Testa Mouton lakes

Arriving by car, drive around the sanctuary (2,035m) as far as possible to the right (north) at the far end of the parking lots. Drive a few metres along a small road closed to traffic. On the right, a sign indicates "Passo di Bravaria, terme di Valdieri". The white-red signposted path descends, crosses a small ravine and climbs back up to the other side. It then alternates between a short descent and rising flats in a northeasterly direction, until it drops into the valley below Testa Mouton. It then passes a pretty waterfall and begins the climb up a steep gully. The trail remains well marked, forming regular switchbacks. Shortly afterwards, it reaches a flat area partly occupied by a first, more or less circular lake (2,150m). At its eastern end, a trail emerges to the left of the GR (signposted "Laghi Gemelli"); climb the ridge, avoiding a few small rocky bars, to arrive directly on the shores of the first twin lake (2,231m). Follow the left bank to reach the second lake, which forms a figure-of-eight with the first. The fourth lake (2,250m) is reached by passing over the second one, bending slightly to the left. Then continue to climb south-eastwards along the ridge, then northwards through the boulders to reach the fifth lake (2320m), which is almost dry. From its banks, you have a magnificent view to the east over three Mouton lakes dominated by Punta Maladecia (2,747m).
