Description
Set off to discover Malinvern, where you'll be able to catch a glimpse of Mont Malinvern, the highest mountain in Isola 2000!
Depart from the Chalet Marano hotel parking lot.
Follow the signs for the Terre Rouge lakes. Reach marker 92 and continue towards the Terre Rouge lakes, taking the path that climbs to the left.
At the Terre Rouge lakes, follow the signs for Baisse de Druos, indicated by marker 93. The path overlooks the largest of the lakes, and twists to reach the pass without any particular difficulty.
From the Baisse, follow the path downhill to the first Valescura lake, which you pass to the right.
Pass the lake and head for Malinvern. Then descend to the Malinvern refuge. Be careful, the descent is long and rocky.
After the refuge, turn left towards the Lacs d'Orgials (quite a long, winding climb).
Finally, descend to Col la Lombarde via the Passo d'Orgials and return to Isola 2000 via a few kilometers of road, ending up on the Grande Traversée du Mercantour GR.
