Description

During the tour of the village, the focus will be on the architecture and its details. The tour will conclude with an exclusive, never-before-seen presentation of the restoration work being done on the Notre-Dame de l’Assomption Church, which has been closed to the public since 2022.
The exhibition will explore the restoration process and the challenges faced by the architect and restorers. Is a restoration always faithful to the original design? What compromises must the architect make in the face of modern constraints? Where does restoration end and archaeology begin? What insights do we gain from comparing written sources with field observations? What is the role of historical and modern photography? These are just a few of the topics that will be addressed during this presentation. The presentation will also highlight the discoveries made in the church that shed light on the vision and techniques of 18th-century master builders.
