Sganarelle, a drunkard and faggot maker, regularly beats his wife Martine.

But he doesn't know that a woman "always has in her hands the means to take revenge on her husband"... This is how she passes him off as a doctor... Forced by the threat of numerous blows with a stick, will Sganarelle be able to cure a young girl suffering from a strange illness that has rendered her mute?
