Description

The museum rooms are currently closed for renovation and the collections are undergoing extensive restoration work.
The Citadel brings together several collections: Boumeester-Goetz Collection: around sixty works by Christine Boumeester, a Dutch artist naturalized French, and Henri Goetz, an American artist naturalized French, along with about fifty works from their personal collection, including major 20th-century artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Hans Hartung and Francis Picabia. Volti Museum Foundation: dedicated to the sculptor Volti, it includes more than 180 works (bronzes, hammered copper, plaster, terracotta and works on paper). History and City Collections: artworks and objects acquired over more than a century, illustrating the history of Villefranche-sur-Mer and the Citadel, including military heritage (27th Battalion of The Alpine Hunters), works by Jean Cocteau and late 19th-century Russian paintings.
