Immerse yourself in a timeless musical journey at the Chapelle de la Providence, a true treasure trove of history and acoustics nestled in Nice’s historic old quarter. For the duration of this concert, the ensemble “Les Cordes d’Azur”—a vibrant offshoot of FIMAC—invites you to rediscover the magic of plucked string instruments. Under the passionate artistic direction of Sabine Marzé, first-prize winner of the Osaka International Solo Mandolin Competition, this unique ensemble brings together mandolins, mandolas, guitars, and double bass to make the Baroque vaults of this one-of-a-kind venue resonate. The rich and varied program will elegantly navigate between the purity of classical music, the nostalgia of film scores, and the energy of traditional themes. A rediscovered tradition: welcoming this ensemble to the Chapelle de la Providence is a heartfelt tribute to the neighborhood’s history. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the sound of the mandolin echoed on the corners of Nice’s narrow streets and in its salons, carried by enthusiastic local “mandolin” societies. This concert reconnects with this heritage—both popular and noble—deeply rooted in Old Nice.
