L'ensemble baroque de Nice invite Colin Heller

Discover an instrument that is as fascinating as it is little-known: the nyckelharpa! Originating in Sweden and dating back to the 14th century, this remarkable bowed string instrument combines the sounds of the violin with the principles of a keyboard. A multi-instrumentalist, improviser, and composer, Colin Heller is one of the leading experts on the nyckelharpa. A regular collaborator with the Ensemble Baroque de Nice, he takes you on a musical journey to the heart of Swedish traditions, through dance tunes passed down from generation to generation, ancient melodies rediscovered in Swedish archives, and more recent compositions. A rare and exotic recital, offering a discovery of an instrument from the Far North and a musical heritage as vibrant as it is unexpected.
