A symphonic concert by the Ensemble Matheus, conducted by Jean-Christophe Spinosi, which reimagines Vivaldi’s *The Four Seasons* to address the issue of global warming. A musical and theatrical experience designed to raise awareness.
What if the future of the planet were a matter of harmony? What if art offered people what they lack to take care of it? What if, by bringing together scientific knowledge and musical emotion, it were possible to create a moment of grace—and with it, awareness and action? That is the challenge taken up by Jean-Christophe Spinosi and the Ensemble Matheus with this project dedicated to the environment. Drawing on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, they are reinventing an absolute masterpiece. In the past, the music and the poems that accompanied it took us from spring to the freezing cold of winter, through summer storms and the autumn grape harvest. Today, under the direction of Jean-Christophe Spinosi—a musician whose approach is both modern and baroque and who is renowned for his brilliant international career—the score is transformed and fused with Egyptian and electronic sounds to illustrate the effects of global warming.
