Romain and Sabah are nine years old. They are neighbors, and both are loners. He gallops on his wooden horse; she hunts bison as a Sioux warrior. When they meet, something incredible and wonderful emerges. But their budding friendship clashes with the brutality of adults and the prejudices of their parents.
Fabrice Melquiot’s intuitive words, written from a child’s perspective, offer a contemporary take on Romeo and Juliet. This funny and sensitive play subtly confronts us with the issues of racism and love for others. Regardless of age, the production draws us into the heart of the characters’ emotions and imaginations.
