Synopsis
As a young woman promised to a convent, Manon longs for freedom and pleasure, and elopes with the Chevalier Des Grieux, whose ardent passion she shares. But her attraction to luxury and worldly life soon complicates this sincere relationship. From Paris to Louisiana, the heartbreaking journey of these two hearts is played out before our very eyes, right up to the ultimate face-off with death.
About the show
To do justice to this incandescent drama - and Puccini's first absolute masterpiece - we have brought together a host of prestigious soloists: Ivan Magrì, Dalibor Jenis and, in the title role, soprano Camille Schnoor from Nice, under the vibrant direction of Ariane Matiakh. Under the direction of Oliver Mears, Director of London's Royal Opera House, this new production will explore the twists and turns of desire in our modern world, and the relationship between men and women.
