Description
Acclaimed in Korea as the performance of the year, Medita is a corporeal and spiritual journey that blends power with gentleness, intensity with warmth—an immersive visual and auditory experience.
Eight performers, including the choreographer, dressed in white pants and tunics, move across a bare stage illuminated by precise lighting. At times, they are perfectly synchronized; at others, they explore the space through mesmerizing soli. Created in 2024, Medita was inspired by choreographer Jaeduk Kim’s reflection on contemporary mental exhaustion, as our minds are constantly over-stimulated by screens. In response, he fills the stage solely with male dancers and no set, showing “not more, but just enough.” The piece cultivates a “silent resonance of life,” balancing strength and fragility. The flowing movements, accompanied by natural sounds—water, birdsong—invite a calming reconnection to the environment. Like “trees that appear to wither but conceal fierce vitality,” Medita promises renewal and beauty.
