Place Pasteur 83120 Sainte-Maxime
The monument was originally erected on the Place des Aliziers, also known as the Place de l'Eglise, in accordance with a resolution passed by the town council on 14 February 1925. The names of the soldiers who fell in the First World War, from 1914 to 1918, were engraved on the monument.

In April 1944, it was moved to the Place de la Mairie, now known as the Place Pasteur, due to the evacuation measures imposed by the German forces.

In 1946, the Town Council commissioned the Maxim sculptor Jean Portal to engrave the names of the soldiers who died for France during the Second World War, from 1939 to 1945, alongside those of their predecessors from the Great War.
