Description
Founded by Augustus in 14 BC, Cemenelum was proclaimed the capital of Alpes Maritimae, an ancient Roman Province.
Visitors can explore the amphitheater, the public baths (1st–3rd centuries A.D.), the paved streets, and an early Christian complex (5th century A.D.).
The museum, which opened in January 1989, displays collections ranging from the Metal Age (1100 B.C.) to the Middle Ages: ceramics, glassware, coins, jewelry, sculptures, tools, and more.
