The permanent collection is the largest public collection of works by Marc Chagall. It is organized around the ensemble created by the painter on the themes of the Old Testament, completed by many works of secular or religious inspiration: more than 400 paintings, gouaches, drawings, washes and pastels. The museum offers visitors a first room which brings together twelve large-format paintings illustrating the first two books of the Old Testament, Genesis and Exodus. A second, smaller room, of hexagonal shape, hosts five compositions on the theme of the Song of Songs, another book of the Old Testament.
