Thursday, October 29
Children ages 5–10 | 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The Art of Quotation
Set out to discover contemporary jewelry through a fun-filled tour, specially designed for children!
Throughout the tour, children will discover the works of 11 contemporary artists and jewelry designers who drew inspiration from famous artists to create their own pieces.
But be careful: drawing inspiration doesn’t mean copying!
Artists transform the works that inspire them, reinvent them, and breathe new life into them through their own imagination and unique perspective.
During the tour, will the children be able to identify the original works hidden behind the jewelry pieces featured in the collection?
The tour will continue with an art workshop. The children will have the chance to become creators themselves and design their own piece of jewelry, drawing inspiration from the world of artist Alexander Calder, famous for his kinetic sculptures.
Just like Marianne Anselin, who reinterpreted Calder’s kinetic sculptures in her own creations, the children will be invited to play with shapes, movement, and balance to invent a piece of jewelry that hangs by a thread.
• Workshop fee: €5 per child
• Free admission for the child and accompanying adult
*GRIMALDI CASTLE-MUSEUM
- Monday, October 26 / Children ages 1–4 | 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
Discover Foujita’s Little Cat
Set out to discover Tsuguharu Foujita’s famous cat during a sensory tour specially designed for toddlers ages 1 to 4.
Who is Foujita? Why did he love painting cats so much? Throughout the tour, children will get to know this artist, who settled in Cagnes-sur-Mer, and discover his world through one of his favorite subjects: the cat.
Painted and drawn countless times, Foujita’s cat is revealed here in a gentle, serene painting. Shh… he’s sleeping! With its beautiful black-and-white coat, it invites the little ones to observe the artwork in silence so as not to wake him. The coat clearly evokes the Zen symbol of Yin and Yang.
A gentle first encounter with art.
-Monday, October 19, and Monday, October 26 | Children ages 5–10 | 2:00 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
My Mini-Museum: “Hey, why do we keep all these objects? ”
Why does a museum preserve objects that are sometimes very old? And what stories can they tell us?
Eighty years ago, in 1946, the city decided to transform the castle—acquired in 1937—into a museum and open it to the public.
But in the beginning, the Château-musée was completely empty! So they had to start building a collection. Over the years, many objects and works of art have been added to the museum.
But what exactly is a collection? Why do we preserve certain objects rather than others? And what can they teach us about our history?
Come discover the museum’s treasures! This tour, specially designed for children ages 5 to 10, invites them to explore the richness and diversity of the collections assembled over the past 80 years.
After exploring the anniversary exhibition, it’s time to get creative! Children, accompanied by their families, will be able to imagine and create their own mini-museum using the artworks and objects they’ve selected.
• Workshop fee: €5 per child
