Description
The French reggae and rap group Nèg' Marrons—formed by the legendary duo Jacky Brown and Ben-J—is celebrating 30 years in the business at the Théâtre de Verdure. This is, to date, the one and only show in Nice and the south of France this summer.
Nice is getting ready to host one of the most anticipated music events of the summer. On Friday, July 17, 2026, the French reggae and rap group Nèg' Marrons—led by the legendary duo Jacky Brown and Ben-J—will take the stage at the Théâtre de Verdure for their “grand finale” concert, produced by Twelty Prod! A one-of-a-kind event in Nice and the south of France to celebrate 30 years of an extraordinary artistic journey: three decades of career, success, concerts, and socially conscious yet festive songs that have left their mark on several generations.
Having burst onto the scene in the mid-1990s with the cult hit “La Monnaie,” Nèg’ Marrons has established itself as one of the leading groups in the French-language reggae-hip-hop movement. As iconic members of the Secteur Ä collective, Jacky Brown and Ben-J have helped popularize a style of music that blends social commentary, Caribbean influences, and festive energy, while inspiring several generations of artists. Thirty years after their debut, their repertoire continues to resonate with an intergenerational audience.
Through a 100% live concert, accompanied by their musicians, the two artists will take the audience on a true journey through time and perform all their hits, from the famous track “Le Bilan” to “Tout le monde debout,” “Lève-toi, bats-toi,” and “La Monnaie.” To kick off the evening, Dirty Swift, a key figure in Paris’s old-school hip-hop and R&B scene, will take to the turntables for an explosive set with ’90s vibes, setting the mood from the very start.
For nearly 5 hours, this concert event promises to bring together longtime fans and new generations alike around a repertoire that has become a must-hear.
