Parasports: Fall Games

The gym at the Golf Hotel in Hyères is set to buzz with sporting excitement. The city will host the latest edition of the Autumn Games, a must-attend multisport event for the Var and Var Departmental para-sports communities. Co-organized by the Handi Club Pomponiana Olbia and the Var Departmental Para-Sports Committee (CDH 83), this event highlights sports for all. Over the course of two days, about 100 athletes—children, teens, and adults with motor, visual, or hearing disabilities—will come together to share moments of camaraderie, challenge, and fellowship. More than 15 events adapted to all ability levels. The main goal of the Fall Games is to enable every participant, regardless of their level of independence, to excel and push their limits. To this end, the program offers a range of more than 15 events and fun workshops: Speed and motor skills: Speed races and agility courses in wheelchairs, tricycles, or walkers. Precision and dexterity: Slalom workshops, Vortex throws, and introductions to Boccia (a ball sport similar to pétanque, very popular in para-sports). A festive event open to the general public The events will run continuously from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Games will conclude on Wednesday afternoon with the traditional and highly anticipated awards ceremony, where each participant’s dedication and courage will be recognized. Admission to the Golf Hotel gymnasium is free and open to all. The organizers warmly invite the general public, families, and sports enthusiasts to come out in large numbers to the stands to cheer on and support these champions.
