Pomelo is a pink elephant the size of a radish. From his home, he observes his little world: a small vegetable garden where all the big questions take root. What are the ants thinking about? Who took a bite out of the moon? Does everyone dream? A well-known hero to all children who ask themselves mind-boggling questions, Pomelo steps out of his children’s books to tell his own story in this show inspired by Ka-mishibai, the Japanese paper theater—as poetic as it is intimate. Here, the illustrations unfold one after another, while each question is visually brought to life by two musician-gardeners to the sound of the ukulele.
