Description

Ramiro Arrue, painter of the Basque soul
Ramiro Arrue, an emblematic figure of Basque art, has tirelessly depicted the landscapes and daily life of his region. A worker of boundless dedication, Ramiro Arrue has humbly and tirelessly depicted the Basque country in a figurative mode that incorporates some of the avant-garde pictorial techniques he encountered during his training in Paris. Discover an artistic universe imbued with majesty and mystery. His compositions form veritable architectures that guide the eye and carry us into the heart of a silent universe, with landscapes that are inanimate yet domesticated, and figures that are active yet absent from view... They emanate a serenity tinged with mystery, where gesture is ennobled, where the skies seem more alive than the figures, and where the Rhune reappears from work to work, like a benevolent presence.
