RAPID EYE MOVEMENTS

Inspired by the phases of sleep and the images that pass through them, Antoine Lemoniz creates a journey in which painting and sculpture engage in a dialogue to explore the boundaries between dream and reality, light and shadow, the marvelous and the unsettling. The artist invites visitors to move through a series of spaces, each like a fragment of the same dream. Each work opens a door to an imaginary world. Antoine Lemoniz has drawn inspiration from a variety of sources, ranging from the colorful worlds of Michel Ocelot and Hayao Miyazaki to the unique atmospheres of Tim Burton and Laika Studios. Over time, he has developed a personal style, recognizable by his dark silhouettes set against colorful landscapes. The artist draws inspiration from model-making, painting, photography, sculpture, and music; as a “dreamer of the strange,” he likes to think that each of his works is a portal to a world he visits—and which he invites viewers to discover. RAPID EYE MOVEMENTS is an invitation to rediscover the dreamer that remains within each of us. An exhibition dedicated to those who continue to believe in the power of the imagination.
