Description

The "Rue de la Tasco" (Tasco Street) is the oldest street in the village. It forms the heart of the medieval fort of Gassin and has retained the charm of life in the past with its military tower, winding passages, and courtyards.
Rue du Fort, now an extension of Rue de la Tasco, owes its name to the castle of the lords of Gassin, of which only part of a tower used as a water cistern remains today. Rue de la Tasco is typically Provençal with small windows to keep cool in summer and retain heat in winter. The houses were all built on the same model with courtyards and cellars carved by hand and linked together, allowing escape through underground passages.
