Description
Located in the heart of the city, Saint-Michel Church, built in 1757, is notable for its understated Baroque style. It was designated a historic monument in 1989.
Mass is held on Sundays at 10 a.m. and on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
Inside, the eye is drawn to the Grinda brothers’ organ, dating from 1790, which is among the oldest in the Alpes-Maritimes and has been designated a historic monument. At the back of the choir, a painting depicts Saint Michael, while a recumbent Christ, carved from a single fig tree trunk, exudes a calm presence, said to be linked to the faith of an unknown galley slave.
