Clinging high up on the slopes to a tiny peak, the site of Old Castellar was a discreet "eagle's nest", barely visible in the landscape. It offers a superb panorama of the sea and of the Menton hinterland. Classified as a picturesque site.

An hour and a half walk from Castellar, the old village is next to the GR 52 (from Menton to Sospel) The ruins of the Old Castellar, commune of Castellar (Alpes-Maritimes) are classified among the sites and natural monuments of artistic character.
