“Sur un air de Bacri” tells the story of an actor who, despite himself, became a leading figure in French cinema and theater. “I don’t go around smiling all the time.” Jean-Pierre Bacri was a man with a distinctive voice, a tender gaze, and a lucid anger, whose characters resemble us as much as they move us. From his early days in theater to his now-iconic roles, Jean-Pierre Bacri built a body of work in his own image: funny, sensitive, deeply human, and always imbued with a spirit of rebellion. On stage, the words, the silences, the outbursts of anger, and the bursts of laughter bring the man behind the characters to life. This show is a journey through his films, plays, dialogues, and encounters, recounting the defining moments of his career—but above all, the convictions of the man himself. A man who rejected labels, who loved imperfect characters, and who knew how to bring out the emotion behind the irony. More than a portrait, it is a tribute to a beloved and demanding actor, whose voice, gaze, and humanity continue to resonate.
