Description
The Town Council and the La Londe branch of the Comité du Souvenir Français invite you to attend the ‘Flammes de l’Espoir’ procession, which will take place on Tuesday 10 November at 10.30 am at the War Memorial, on the forecourt of the Town Hall.
Year 6 pupils from Jean-Jaurès and Antoine-Bussone schools will march through the town centre from Jean-Jaurès School to the Town Hall forecourt to take part in the ceremony.
Behind the flags of the Souvenir Français, the flame of hope will be carried by the youth councillors, followed by the pupils, teachers and parents.
The programme for the ceremony:
10.30 am: the procession sets off from the playground of Jean-Jaurès School,
10.40 am: the procession arrives at the war memorial,
10.45 am: introduction to the ceremony by the chairperson,
11.00 am: roll call of those who died for France between 1914 and 1918, led by the teachers,
11.05 am: laying of the Flames of Hope by the youth councillors, followed by a minute’s silence and the singing of La Marseillaise by the congregation,
11.10 am: address by the Mayor and salute to the flag-bearers,
11.15 am: end of the ceremony; pupils return to Jean Jaurès School.
