Description
Beginning in the late 1960s, Tania Mouraud’s work has been part of a practice that explores the relationship between art and social bonds, using various media: painting, installation, photography, sound, video, performance, etc.
She proposed adding a meditation room to our standard apartments (1968). She displayed her disagreement with a society that glorifies material possessions at the expense of humanity on 3 x 4-meter billboards in public spaces (1977). She reflects on the decorative relationships between art and war, and on the limits of perception, using writing to create “words of form” (1989).
Beginning in 1998, she has used photography, video, and sound—in close connection with painting—to explore various aspects of history and life.
For this dinner-conversation, Tania Mouraud, a member of the Academy of Fine Arts, has chosen to title her talk *Confidences*. A title that evokes the sincerity of a secret shared with a close friend and invites us to discover an extraordinary artistic journey.
Since the 1960s, she has built a prolific body of work—ranging from painting to installations, from wall paintings to photography and video—exploring our relationship to language, perception, and the
contemporary world.
With the generosity and freedom that characterize her approach, Tania Mouraud will share her story, her research, and what continues to inspire her work. A rare opportunity to meet a major artist.
