Description

The only work in the Vallo Alpino to be restored to its original state on the eve of the Second World War.
The museum, which opened in 2016, is housed in the Viévola 261 fortress (Hameau de Tende). The museum has been carefully and magnificently designed to showcase the conditions, weapons and objects that were part of the daily life of the Italian soldiers who occupied these surveillance works scattered across our mountain ranges. The ASVAL, with almost thirty years' experience in bunker-archaeology, having organised conferences, exhibitions, excursions and taken part in various demonstrations, has achieved its main aim of understanding how an Italian bunker functioned, and demonstrates this by structuring it. The museum will probably open in August 2026, after a gigantic overhaul following the damage caused by Storm Alex.
