European Heritage Days for families

the top kid-friendly outings on the Côte d'Azur

From 19 to 21 September 2025, make the most of the European Heritage Days with your family! From Nice to Antibes, via Menton and Puget-Théniers, we’ll be opening the doors of some amazing places, having fun, learning and marvelling. Here are just a few of the places we’ve picked out for you to enjoy, with plenty of culture and fun to share!

Heading for the Côte d’Azur seaside with your family

On the Côte d’Azur, the European Heritage Days are inviting families to discover hidden treasures, combining heritage, culture and nature.

InAntibes, the Fort Carré becomes a living stage with “Clown & corps”, a tender and mischievous show that will have children laughing and parents touched. In Cannes, head for the Royal Fort on the Ile Sainte-Marguerite, where the Fondation du Patrimoine will be running a stand alongside the guided tours offered by the Fort museum. In Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Guillaume Bottazzi’s two works of coral vibrate at the heart of Absolu Mandelieu: organic shapes, pearly shades… a poetic stroll that will arouse the curiosity of the youngest visitors.

In Villeneuve-Loubet, “Conspiration aux bords du Loup: à vous de jouer!” transforms the river into the setting for a life-size investigation. And in Menton, there’s a free card-making workshop for children at Fontana Rosa. A garden listed as a Historic Monument, it’s the perfect setting for a stroll for all the family!

Take a step up and discover another cultural playground

In Grasse, “Oh là l’art” at the Charles Nègre multimedia library awakens the imagination. After creating architectural volumes using origami or cut-outs, the shadows appear to play with the volumes. In Mouans-Sartoux, the Espace de l’Art Concret is offering a giant treasure hunt, where visitors can take on the role of detectives and go in search of hidden works. In Le Cannet, takea stroll through the countryside from the Musée Bonnard. A peaceful, sensory experience, to discover the colours of the sunset and the atmospheres that inspired the master. At the Musée Magnelli in Vallauris, take part ina “Ceramics in Bloom” workshop and have fun painting brightly coloured flowers!

In Biot, thecreative workshop at the Musée Fernand Léger invites children to play with shapes and colours. The whole family can experiment with creativity at workshops inspired by the graphic work of Karina Bisch. A must-see at La Gaude, the storytelling and musical show “La Gaude en pays de Vence” is sure to delight young and old alike. A spellbinding tale where voices, music and drawings, live on the big screen, bring the story to life! Finally, off to Saint-Paul de Vence to discover “Military architecture explained to children”.

Visiting Nice with the family: sights galore

Destination Nice, where the city unravels its treasures!

At the Grotte préhistorique du Lazaret, the introductory archaeological dig workshop turns children into apprentice archaeologists. Using a reconstructed excavation site, children can learn about archaeological excavation methods, while discovering the meticulousness, patience and rigour of archaeologists’ fieldwork!

At theEspace culturel départemental Lympia, enjoy a fantastic interlude with make-up workshops on the theme of “Marvellous animals in your head!” before thrilling to the “Parade of fantastic creatures”. It’s a great way to get together and share a colourful moment, facing the port and its facades steeped in history.

Backcountry explorers of all ages

In Rimplas, head for the Fort Maginot de la Frassinéa for a guided tour led by enthusiasts in period costume. Built into a staircase on a mountain ridge, this site offers a breathtaking panorama: the Vallée de la Tinée on one side, the Val de Blore on the other. A unique opportunity to delve into the history of the Maginot Line in the south of France.

In Puget-Théniers, the Janette company brings its family show “Le Pot de Départ” to the Place de l’Église. Finally, in Tende, the Musée des Merveilles offers a timeless olfactory experience based on ancient images. You’ll travel from the scent of herbs to that of workshops, and you’ll be able to guess, beyond words, the life of the valley.

Family outings just outside Monaco

At the gateway to the Principality, towns and villages each in their own way reveal a fragment of the history and heritage of the Côte d’Azur.

In La Turbie, discover the Trophée d’Auguste during the European Heritage Days. The whole family can enjoy a musical and theatrical experience in a place so emblematic for its power.

Finally, in Èze, Fort de la Revère, one of the finest Séré de Rivières fortifications in the Alpes-Maritimes, built between 1882 and 1885, is opening its doors for a guided tour as part of the European Heritage Days.
