The passion for flowers and art at Fragonard

A creator of divine fragrances that has been able to renew itself over the decades, Maison Fragonard appeals because of its family history. It is ceaseless in showcasing Grasse and its natural essences all over the world. Free guided tours are organized throughout the summer so you can discover the perfumer’s trade and the incredible art collection started by the founder’s grandson.

A family story for four generations

Founded in 1926 by Eugène Fuchs, the Fragonard perfumery is one of the oldest perfumeries in Grasse.

The history of the house began at 20 Boulevard Fragonard and this still remains the historic site of the perfumer from Grasse.

It was named in homage to the great local painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard.

The passion was passed down from generation to generation to Jean-François Costa who, as a great art lover, brought a cultural dimension to the site by creating the first Perfume Museum in Grasse, then the Provencal Museum of Costume and Jewellery and the Jean-Honoré Fragonard Museum.

A new modern yet authentic breath of air

Won over by the magic of perfume, Anne, Françoise, and Agnès Costa, the great-granddaughters of Eugène Fuchs, have taken over the running of this wonderful house.

Truly passionate, they bring a touch of modernity and femininity, drawing inspiration from Provencal costumes.

The perfume bottles are decorated with beautiful colourful flowers, as shown by the new collection, “Les Fleurs du parfumeur”, which pays homage to the scents of Provence.

The two annual lifestyle, decoration, and fashion collections have taken on a new dimension thanks to exclusive motifs and delicate embroidery.

The orange flower, a marvellous fragrance and iconic of the house

It embalms the underside of a wrist in all its splendour and brightens up the hollow of a neck with its grace.

The orange flower is the emblematic fragrance of Fragonard, just like the house’s famous perfumes.

Belle de nuit, an original fragrance created in 1946 and reworked in 2005, combines floral and fruity notes like rose and plum. The base notes, comprising white musks, bring warmth and mellowness to this perfume.

In the company of a professional perfumer, a unique one-day sensory experience is offered to apprentice perfumers, allowing you to create your own eau de Cologne in the factory’s workshop and leave with your fragrance at the end of the session.

Culture honours Provence

The Jean-Honoré Fragonard Museum is celebrating its tenth anniversary with hitherto unseen masterpieces based on three major painters from Grasse: Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Marguerite Gérard and Jean-Baptiste Mallet.

In particular you can discover “L’Oiseau chéri”, a painting that has not been seen since the 19th century.

The poetic artist Sabine Pigalle exhibits her work based on the Renaissance masters, whereas the Provencal Museum of Costume and Jewellery pays homage to the Provencal art of living in Fragonard’s time.

This exhibition is a homage to Jean-François Costa, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year.

Discover fascinating know-how during a tour

If perfumers captivate you and their know-how intrigues you, Maison Fragonard offers you an olfactory journey!

Alembics that allow for extracting the essential oils, the maceration and filtering room and the perfumer’s organ are to be discovered during a guided tour of the historic factory.

The manufacturing techniques and the laboratory, starting points for all manufacture, are also to be visited at the Fabrique des Fleurs, a modern factory, south of Grasse.

Lastly, in Eze-Village, Fragonard is continuing the production of solid perfume, and it organizes guided tours of the laboratory where you can discover the manufacture of cosmetic and beauty ranges, such as shower gels, body milks and creams.
