Fancy some fresh air, nature and a touch of adventure? This summer, head to Roubion! This hilltop village in the Alpes-Maritimes, just an hour from the coast, offers a perfect blend of the great outdoors, gentle thrills and authentic charm. Here are five good reasons to set off and explore this mountain village in the Alpes-Maritimes.

1. Roubion: the perfect getaway, combining adventure with a relaxed way of life

Perched on the cliff like an eagle’s nest, Roubion quickly makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the coast. Here, the silence of the mountains, the stone-paved alleyways and the endless views over the valleys envelop you in a sense of freedom.

From rock climbing on bare rock to via ferrata routes high above the cliffs, downhill mountain biking or long hikes through larch forests, every moment is an invitation to experience the mountains to the full.

Then comes time for a bit of relaxation: a gourmet break at the village bistro, a visit to the Church of Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel, or a contemplative nap facing the ridges.

Spending the summer in Roubion means savouring the perfect balance between nature, adventure and the art of living the slow life.

2. Head for outdoor activities for an active holiday

Looking for adventures in the great outdoors?

Roubion is the perfect place. For the more daring, head to the Canyon du Moulin, an experience reserved for experts, featuring technical abseils and a 60-metre waterfall beneath a natural arch. If you prefer a more leisurely experience, the Roubion-les-Buisses resort also offers a mountain biking area, with nine trails served by a chairlift, ranging from green to black level. Electric mountain bikes allow everyone, from beginners to experienced riders, to enjoy the mountains at their own pace. As for the Roubion Bike Park, it’s set to delight visitors at weekends, on public holidays and long weekends until early October. And for those who love climbing, the climbing site at a place known as the Grotte de la Balma or the “Balma negra” via ferrata await you just a stone’s throw from the village, in a stunning setting. Hiking trails are also within easy reach, such as the Circuit des Hameaux, the Pin Pourri, the Boucle de Vignols or Mont Gravière. With marked trails, moderate gradients or more challenging routes, there’s something for everyone in this unspoilt mountain setting!
